Department of Animal Science carries out research in a broad perspective of animals, environment, resources, welfare, product quality, and interaction between climate, animals and humans, animal models for human health, sustainability and environmentally friendly animal production.

In the institute, there are several activities depending on the possibilities for creating special feed for animals — so the true response from the animal is an endpoint result in research projects.

Therefore, it is very essential that the new ‘experimental feed plant’ is state of the art and contain possibilities for further development.

Department of Animal Science carries out research in a broad perspective of animals, environment, resources, welfare, product quality, and interaction between climate, animals and humans, animal models for human health, sustainability and environmentally friendly animal production.

In the institute, there are several activities depending on the possibilities for creating special feed for animals — so the true response from the animal is an endpoint result in research projects.

Therefore, it is very essential that the new ‘experimental feed plant’ is state of the art and contain possibilities for further development.

Keywords for the new plant: Mill/grinding, Conditioning, Mixing, Extruding, Pelletizing, Cooling/drying, Coating. The plant should be able to treat classic feed ingredients and potential future feed ingredients, both dry feeds and fluids (including fat/oil). Further, it is important that the plant can be supplemented with different alternative types of equipment — which, over time, could become necessary in research projects.

The overall aim for the equipment is to produce precise and repeatable processing of feedstuffs and producing precise and repeatable feed mixture and pellets.
