Section II: Object
Acquisition of a Flextura Cluster Process Chamber to the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen.
The Niels Bohr Institute at University of Copenhagen conducts research, teaching, and innovation within a number of areas of the physical sciences. The instrument procured is for the work groups within nanoscale quantum optics.
The Niels Bohr Institute at University of Copenhagen is procuring an instrument for evaporation of metals in a high-vacuum environment for development of nanoscale components for quantum technologies. The main purposes are the evaporation of ohmic contacts, Schottky gates, and superconducting thin films. In the future, we plan on combining the present instrument with other evaporators integrated in a cluster system.
Section IV: Procedure
- The procurement falls outside the scope of application of the directive
A critical parameter is the compact footprint because the instrument will be installed for the first 2-3 years in a temporary site in a room with < 12 m2. At the same time, another critical parameter is the upgradability to a cluster configuration once we move the evaporator to its final installation site. We therefore need an extremely compact stand-alone chamber that in the future can be seamlessly integrated with a handler chamber and additional evaporators. Additionally, we need a compact vacuum load-lock, 8 metal pockets, automatic thickness-monitor carousel, full computer control over process parameters and process log including remote internet access.
According to the European Parliament and Council Directive No. 2014/24/ EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, Article 32. 2, point b, the University of Copenhagen believes that only Polyteknik can deliver such a system.
