Modernisation and Modification of KBV181
KBV181 is a surveillance and oil response vessel stationed in Umeå. The vessel is used for surveillance, patrol and for environmental protection acts. Besides the vessels duty for the Swedish Coast Guard it is also used by UMF, Umeå university marine research centre, as a platform for research work and environmental surveillance in the Gulf of Bothnia. KBV181 is ice strengthened, ice class 1A, and is capable of breaking ice with 70 cm thickness.
The goal of this procurement is to sign a contract with one contractor for the rebuild of KBV181. The retrofit aims at enhancing the vessels capacity of recovering oil from the sea, providing for better scientific work on deck and in the labs and for modernising the vessel, providing for a further 15 years of operation.
The vessel will be available for work at the shipyard during the period 21.4.2020–15.9.2020.
At the winning tenderers shipyard.
